The day his mother told him that he would spend the three summer months with his aunts on Koine, the Greek island where they usually vacationed, Giulio was overjoyed. What he couldn’t know, however, was that his mother, after receiving yet another warning letter from school, had asked the aunts for help in “straightening out” her son. And so, the three summer months turned into a nightmare of discipline and punishments.
The aunts immediately began to treat him like a child, with the result that privacy and modesty were quickly forgotten, while sitting became increasingly difficult as the summer went on.
