The most dreaded moments were the individual performance evaluations; this was the time when “accounts were settled,” and all the minor shortcomings were added up to be dealt with all at once. Each employee had an app that kept track of these, and when they exceeded a certain threshold, they knew they had to be ready for their supervisor’s arrival.
